Stan Chelney is an experienced trial attorney who handles cases pending in New York state courts, federal courts, U.S. bankruptcy courts, and before arbitral panels and governmental bodies. Stan has extensive experience with actions involving securities claims, banking and mortgage law, corporate governance and shareholder rights, alleged breach of fiduciary duties, breach of contract, fraud and business torts, malpractice and professional negligence claims, lender liability, accountant liability, real estate disputes, personal injury claims, and sports law.

Stan has led internal investigations involving allegations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, alleged violations of the Dodd-Frank Act, insider trading claims, and numerous claims of financial and securities fraud. He has handled matters pending before the SEC, DOJ, FINRA, FERC, and the Court of International Trade. Stan has broad experience representing investment banks, hedge funds, private equity funds, corporate boards of directors, corporate officers, individual shareholders, and companies in the energy, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, healthcare, insurance, and sports industries.

Prior to forming his own practice, Stan spent sixteen years as a commercial litigator at the highest levels of legal practice in New York. He was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and Bracewell & Giuliani LLP — two international law firms that consistently rank in the “AmLaw 100” rankings of the top law firms in the nation. Prior to that, Stan was an associate in the New York offices of Shearman & Sterling LLP and DeweyBallantine LLP.
